Oh, I do have good karma!!

Do you want to touch me? OK, no? No it is.

WELL- I do have good karma!
I won 6 tickets to the folk fest!

I won 6 tickets to the Winnipeg Folk Fest just for calling up KVSC and asking them to put my name in the drawing.

Earlier in the day our neighbor Greg called and said that they were doing the drawing that night. Every pledge drive they give away groovy things, but this is a big one. Usually every day they do a drawing at 10pm for everyone that calls and wants to get into the drawing- pledging or not! So, I forgot about it and was going upstairs to read to Grammy when I remembered that I wanted to move the cars off the street for the night. I told Grammy I'd be right back and went out to move cars. While driving around the block to get into the back alley, KVSC was on and I remembered that they were doing the drawing. So, when I got in I asked Chris if he had called (I figured it would be greedy for us both to call). No, he hadn't. So I gave it a shot, even though it was about 9:20pm or so. I thought about calling my sister Mary and telling her to call in too. But, I didn't and in the end I was the winner! And, now Mary gets to go with anyway! :) They called me Ruth Lamb- of course! I called Lisa and Greg right away to rub it in (and offer up two tickets for them for sure) even though it was already after 10pm and they are in bed by that time.

I should list all the goodies I've won over the years. Ah, maybe later! I do win a lot and I have a big belly like Buddha. Perhaps rubbing it would bring you good karma? Oh, and I did send out one of the "lucky lotto" chain email letters yesterday. Ya know the type. Send this to 6 friends in 5 minutes, yada, yada, yada! Thanks Donna- I guess that did it!

SNOW DAY!!

Super heavy, wet snow fell Thursday and Friday- school was cancelled all over the state. Some Spring!

I think we got about 8-10 inches.

The wind was insane! What a late season storm- forcast for almost 70F on Tuesday!

Yeah, Minnesota!

ON AGAIN! Cannery Row-McCann's April 11th

OK, if you've been looking at Chris' blog, he noted that the Cannery Row gig for Friday April 11th was cancelled-
BUT...

It's on again!

On-off-on Again!!! Boy oh, boy!

The two manager's both (accidentally) booked the downstairs room for Friday night- but Cannery Row will play upstairs in the dining room. Mike loved the idea, noting that it might be like dinner theatre- hmmm?

So, come!

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

...apparently Graham is at least as smart as a 5th grader! The other evening while they were watching Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader the question was asked (I was out of the room, so I'm not sure of the exact wording)- "What did Prometheus steal from the gods to give to humans?" Graham knew immediately that it was fire~ Jack and daddy did not know the answer. Thanks to Hugo Cabaret and the real-life wonders of reading, Graham knew the answer! Though Chris and Jack did read the book, apparently when I read the book to Graham he picked up on more of it than I first suspected. Never under-estimate the value of great literature and time well-spent reading with your child!

NOW go read that Book!

I need to update my reading list! I've finished all but Mr. Jefferson's Women and I've started Bless Me, Ultima for The Big Read. I've now more books on my night stand! One Thousand White Women and Infidel. I think I will have to return The Enchanted Chocolate Pot and read it at a later date. It was suggested by my library aid Rachel. She is a fabulous aid and one who reads enormous volumes of (as in, many) books. She lives alone, is not married, does not have TV and loves to read. Generally we do not share the same type of reading material, she likes mostly only happy books and does not go in for Non-fiction at all! The Enchanted Chocolate Pot was written by two Minneapolis writers and looks really fun.

So, I'll let you know how I liked all these new reads (and maybe put up titles on the side later if I have more time). Now, Jack and I are going to watch a movie called Where is the Friend's Home? I watched it last week and thought Jack would really enjoy it. Even with subtitles, it is more about the scenery and the child's emotions. At times, it's what is not said where the story is. I thought it was beautiful and not much in it that would be appalling for anyone, especially by today's standards!!

Good Sunday to all!
